The first festival of the year, the bachFest from 1 to 7 January, is dedicated to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. But what would the festival be without the music of other Baroque composers?
Let's just name a few - François Couperin, Nicolas de Grigny or Antonio Vivaldi, some of whom Johann Sebastian had a close exchange of letters and notes with in his time.

The concerts at the festival will feature brilliant works by a wide range of composers. The performers include renowned musicians from Estonia and around the world. The festival's opening and closing concerts are always framed by Bach's great works - cantatas, orchestral suites and concertos. Every year, the festival brings to its audiences a number of, if not world premieres, then certainly Estonian premieres, even if the works are centuries old. The festival offers music for traditional instruments such as organ, violin, gamba, piano, guitar. But there will also be more unusual instruments such as the pan flute, psalterie, musette de cour or Leon Theremin. |
